Concurrent Tweening Practice worksheet I
Concurrent tweens are tweening animations that occur simultaneously on the time line. Each tween or movie clip MUST be on a different layer.
Exercise I The Talking Head (simple bitmap character animation)
fig 1.1
Step I Download this .fla file and open it in flash.

Step II In the "left_eyebrow" layer select a frame between frames 1 and 4 and create a motion tween. Then create another motion tween between frames 5 and 10.

Step III In the "right_eyebrow" layer select a frame between frames 1 and 4 and create a motion tween. Then create another motion tween between frames 5 and 10.

Step IV Then in the "mouth" layer create motion tweens between each of the keyframes.

Exercise II A Marching Storm Trooper (simple bitmap character animation)* concurrent & successive
fig 2.1
Step I Download this .fla file and open it in Flash.

Step II Select frame 5 in the "r_thigh" layer. Resize the graphic vertically and move its position upwards.

Step III In the "r_thigh" layer create a motion tween from frame 1 to frame 5 then create a motion tween from frame 5 to frame 8

Step IV Select frame 5 in the "r_shin" layer then move the position of the shin graphic upwards until it touches the thigh.

Step V In the "r_shin" layer create a motion tween from frame 1 to frame 5 then create a motion tween from frame 5 to frame 8.

Step VI Select frame 5 in the "r_foot" layer then move the position of the foot graphic upwards until it touches the shin.

Step VII Repeat this for the left leg so that it is tweened from frame 9 to 18

Note:
In exercise II some of the tweens could be on the same layer and timed successively. For example when the left foot is moving the right foot is stationary so would not need an a exclusive layer. However it is good practice to give each animated element it own layer as it helps organize your animation and gives you freedom to change the animation sequence if necessary.
