Alpha Tweening Practice worksheet I  
Alpha tweening is the animation of a changing alpha value of an object or group of objects. The Alpha channel is responsible for the amount of light* that passes through a pixel. By animating a change in the alpha value of an objects pixels you can make an object gradually appear or disappear on screen.The following exercises are designed to help reinforce the concept of keyframes and the way in which are used to create tweens. Recreate the tweens by following the instructions below. Then save the .fla file and the .swf file to your portfolio folder.

Exercise I
Appearing Act (A Star Is Born)
Step I Download this image and import it to the stage. Then convert the image to a graphic symbol. Name the graphic "astartisborn".
 
   
Step II Create a new keyframe at frame 62. Then add the "astarisborn" graphic
 
   
Step III Select the graphic in frame 1, then in the color drop down menu (in the properties panel) choose "alpha" an set the value to 0%.
 
   
Step IV Select the graphic in frame 62, then in the color drop down menu (in the properties panel) choose "alpha" an set the value to 100%.
 
   
Step V Right click between frames 1 and 62 then select "Create Motion Tween".
 

Exercise II
Disappearing Act (Fading Scarlet)
Step I Download this image and import it to the stage. Then convert the image to a graphic symbol. Name the graphic "fadingscarlet".
 
   
Step II Create a new keyframe at frame 62. Then add the "fadingscarlet" graphic
 
   
Step III Select the graphic in frame 1, then in the color drop down menu (in the properties panel) choose "alpha" an set the value to 100%.
 
   
Step IV Select the graphic in frame 62, then in the color drop down menu (in the properties panel) choose "alpha" an set the value to 0%.
 
   
Step V Right click between frames 1 and 62 then select "Create Motion Tween".
