Creating A Text Shape Tween

How to create a simple text shape tween:

Create the initial text:

  • Using the "Text" tool type your text on stage in the first frame of the main timeline
  • Center the text using the align panel.

Create keyframes and edit the movie clip properties:

  • In the main timeline insert a keyframe at at frame 49.
  • Then insert a blank keyframe at frame 24
  • Create new text then center it.
  • Select the text in frame 24 then in the main menu go to Modify > Break Apart.
  • Break apart the text in frame 1 and frame 49.

Create the shape tweens and preview your animation:

  • Click between frames 1 and 24 in the main timeline then go to the properties panel and select "Shape" from the "Tween" drop down menu.
  • Then click between frames 24 and 49 and select "Shape" again from the properties panel.
  • In the main menu go to Control > Play to play your animation.

Note: You cannot apply a shape tween directly to text. Symbols and groups must be broken apart before a shape tween can be applied.
