The ASIN() Function Knowledgebase Trig Index Page 

The inverse sine function in Excel is written "ASIN".

  • The function accepts one argument between -1 and 1 and returns a value from -Pi/2 to Pi/2.
  • The function takes a ratio written in decimal notation and returns an angle in radians.
  • The Syntax for the funvtion is: ASIN(number)

How to use the ASIN() function:

  • Type " =ASIN( "
  • Enter the coordinate of the data cell "A3"
  • Type")" then press the "Enter" key. 
 

Note:  180 deg = p rads
