The ROMAN function

  • The syntax for the function is ROMAN(number) where "number" is the value that is to be converted to a roman numberal.

How to use the ROMAN() function:

  • Type " =ROMAN( ".
  • Enter the coordinate of the data cell "A2".
  • Type a comma then enter the form of the roman numeral e.g. 0.
  • Type")" then press the "Enter" key. 
 




Text can be converted directly bt enclosing text in quitation marks e.g VALUE("$60") = 60.

The ROMAN function cannot be used with numbers greater than 3,999. If the number does exceed this number Excel will display #VALUE! in the cell.
