dreamweaver allows the user to continue to edit
pages on the remote server while publishing. This
is especially usefull when publishing large files
or groups of files as the user does not need to wait
untill the publishing cycle is complete before continueing
to work on a web site.
the only thing you cannot do when a dreamwevaer
is publishing is delete a file or page.
Old files or files that have been deleted from the
local site can be set to be deleted from the remote
site when files are snchonized.
dreamweaver can be confingured to synchronize with
the remote server by checking the time stamp on each
file on the website to see if files on the local
site are newer and therefor need to be put on the
remote site.
Conversely you can also set the syncronization to
get newer files from the remote server and save them
to the local site.
synchronization can also be set to occure in both
directions to that the newest files are put on both
the local and remote server so that each has the
same files.
pages attached to templates can be manually updated
by going to ...
for pages to be updated automatically templates
must be stored in a file named "templates" so
that dream weaver can recognize them as templates
with attached pages throughout the site.
each time a template is chnged dreamweaver gives
the option of updating all pages attached to that
template. you can either update all pages attached
to this template or you can opt to update all the
pages in the site connected to all templates.....
